We have already been receiving questions and feedback about the loss of Deutsche Welle TV, Classic Arts, and other shows. This is an update to keep everyone abreast of what is going on.
Over the years DJUSD Channel 17 has been proud to present the Davis community with a wide variety of educational and informative programming. This programming has always been a mix of local student performances and films, sporting events, the DJUSD School Board Meetings, PTA lectures, lessons, national shows, and international material to present a broad set of perspectives. However, the loss of access to certain satellite feeds means that some shows will no longer be available or may be temporarily absent from Channel 17, while we replace hardware and seek new agreements with content providers.
DJUSD Channel 17 fully intends to continue a great variety of programming going forward. Locally sourced programs will remain largely unaffected by the required changes. What is going to be changing is the international and national show lineup. We cannot say for certain which shows will be back or replaced yet, but we are always interested in feedback (use our Contact Form).
Of course we also have new programming (some temporary) to replace anything we are losing. So various shows might go on and off at points during the broadcast day, over the next few weeks. Again this mainly affects the day time satellite material and not the local evening shows.
As part of our continuous effort to improve DJUSD Channel 17, we are also redoing the DJUSD School Board Meeting archives, as part of a longer term project. Meetings from the current school year are available again and older ones will come online as they are re-encoded and the website code updated. LIVE DJUSD School Board Meetings will continue to be broadcast live (with replays over the weekend).
Thanks for your patience and support!
